This holiday season, Stanford Sports Medicine participated in its annual Adopt-A-Family event through the Salvation Army in Sunnyvale by helping two local families in need. As a staff, they bought and wrapped presents for all members of the families, in addition to purchasing various household items like blankets, school supplies, cookware, grocery and gas gift cards, and small kitchen appliances. The staff participates in this event every year and enjoys the opportunity to give back to the local community. “Realizing that families in our area lack what we consider to be such basic items really gives you some perspective on life. I look forward to this event every year and enjoy the opportunity to give back. It comes at a perfect time for our staff as fall sports are winding down and people can take a step back from their everyday duties to help those less fortunate,” said Katie Susskind, athletic training fellow and organizer of the event.
